Juan Caballero

Juan Caballero is the visionary CEO of Build Change, whose vision is that every home is disaster-resilient. He brings over 13 years of experience within the organization, where he most recently led the scaling and execution of programs around the globe as Chief Programs Officer and was appointed CEO in 2024 following the founder's 20-year tenure. Juan has been instrumental in advancing resilient retrofitting for existing housing and has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor to governments, multilateral institutions, and non-governmental organizations alike. His leadership has influenced policy change, pioneered financing solutions, and advanced technology for resilience at scale.

Prior to his tenure at Build Change, Juan worked as an independent architect and construction contractor, enhancing his practical understanding of the field. He also served in the Honduran government, focusing on enhancing local government capabilities and managing development programs.

A licensed architect in Honduras and Colombia, Juan also holds a master’s degree in project management.. Fluent in Spanish, French, and English, with basic proficiency in Haitian Creole and German, Juan is adept at collaborating across diverse cultural and linguistic contexts, amplifying the impact of Build Change’s initiatives.
